June 22 in Russia is the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, the day the Great Patriotic War began, which took the lives of tens of millions of people. The memory of the war victims was honored in Moscow with the traditional "Memory Line" event. On the same day, an immersive museum opened on Red Square.
The Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, one of the most terrible dates in Russian history, is commemorated in Russia.
On this day, 84 years ago, the Great Patriotic War began, which became part of World War II. As a result of the war, 26.6 million people died.
On this tragic date, traditional patriotic events took place throughout Russia. In Moscow, the "Memory Line" event took place on the Krymskaya Embankment. During the ceremony, 1418 candles were lit: one candle for each day of the war.
In the center of the capital, on Red Square, an immersive open-air museum dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory Parade, which took place on June 24, 1945, has opened. It will work until June 24 inclusive.
